[Reporter Liao Xueru/Hsinchu Report] A 57-year-old male patient participated in a hepatitis C pilot program in another hospital last year. After completing oral antiviral drug treatment, the virus level was tested every 12 weeks, and it was confirmed that the hepatitis virus had been killed in the body. After recovering from liver C, he did not stop drinking. Unexpectedly, a tumor of about 6 cm appeared in the liver during the health checkup this year. It was confirmed to be a malignant tumor by imaging.

Ke Zhiran, a general surgeon at the Hsinchu Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, said that the process of liver C can be divided into three steps. If hepatitis is not treated, it will become cirrhosis of the liver and finally liver cancer.

The patient took antiviral drugs for 3 months, thinking that there was no virus in his body, and he drank indulgently after recovering from hepatitis, resulting in a tumor of about 6 cm in the first central lobe of the liver, which was close to the inferior vena cava, and metastasized to the second, second, and third parts of the liver. There was also a 1.6 cm tumor in Mitsuba, which is the second stage of liver cancer. If the follow-up is slow, the tumor may invade the inferior vena cava, making it difficult to achieve curative resection with surgery.

Ke Zhiran used an ultrasonic liver incision device to completely resect the liver tumor close to the inferior vena cava and resect the second and third lobes of the liver. Because the tumor was sandwiched between the inferior vena cava and the hepatic vein, it had not yet invaded the blood vessels, so bleeding The volume is only about 50CC, and the operation time is about 1 hour. The patient was discharged 7 days after the operation. Currently, follow-up is continuing.

Ke Zhiran reminded people who participated in the Hepatitis C Trial Program not to think that they will be cured after taking medicine. In addition to abstaining from alcohol, they should also return to the doctor regularly for follow-up.

Hepatitis C is transmitted through blood, unsafe sex, sharing needles, etc. are all prone groups; in addition, long-term drinking is also a high-risk group for liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Therefore, if you drink alcohol for a long time, have had liver C, or have taken antiviral drugs for liver C, you should have regular ultrasound tracking or blood tests in 3 to 6 months to avoid liver cirrhosis and even liver cancer.

General surgeon Ke Zhiran reminds that if you drink alcohol for a long time, have had hepatitis C, or have taken antiviral drugs for liver C, you should do ultrasound tracking or blood tests regularly for 3 to 6 months to avoid liver cirrhosis, which may even lead to into liver cancer.
