The tomb of 13th century Azerbaijani poet Izeddin Hasanoglu in Iran was destroyed.

APA reports that Ali Shamil, a folklorist scientist, head of the department of relations with foreign countries at ANAS Institute of Folklore, reported on his social network account.

"This morning, a bitter news arrived. They sent a picture of Hasanoglu's grave in a destroyed state. I would like our intellectuals and official circles to comment on this issue," he said.

It should be noted that Izaddin Hasanoglu is the author of the first ghazal in his mother tongue in the history of Azerbaijani literature.
