35 feet long Humpback Whale washed ashore, people were shocked to see

About 35 feet long male humpback whale was found on Long Island's Lido Beach in Nassau County, New York in the early hours of Monday.

According to Hempstead city supervisor Don Clavin, it was the biggest whale he had seen in ten years.

He said that it had been at least five years since he had seen a whale on the shore.

The whale was dead, and the carcass was being carried away.

There is a lot of discussion on the internet about this video of dead whale.

More than 14 whales have washed up on American shores since December.

The video has gone viral on the internet and has been viewed over 2 lakh 60 thousand times on social media platforms.

According to a BBC report, some local officials and environmentalists are blaming the development of an offshore wind farm in the area for the deaths.

However, officials say they have found no evidence to suggest the wind farms are to blame.

The news outlet further reports that since 2016, they have been tracking an "unusual mortality rate" of humpback whales along the East Coast.

Over the past six years, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has counted 178 dead humpback whales from Florida to Maine.

NOAA performed necropsies on about half the whales and found that 40% of those deaths were caused by human contact, either entangled in fishing gear or collisions with ships.
