Today we came across an archival photo that was taken on this very day, February 2, 1989.

Princess Diana carries a bouquet at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, where she has come to see Welsh National Opera's American debut of Falstaff.

The princess is wearing a corset with embroidery and a cape on top, the length of her dress cannot be seen in the picture.

Diana has beautifully styled hair, makeup on her face, and pearl earrings in her ears, and a golden bracelet sparkling with diamonds on her wrist.

Diana looks noticeably thinner in this photo.

The photo was taken in 1989, when the Princess of Wales was already the mother of two sons - William and Harry.

And, apparently, already then, problems began in her marriage with the heir Charles.
