Dave Battista Interview Video

[Reporter Xu Shiying/Taipei-New York Connection Interview] Ghost director Naisha Malan released the new thriller "Knock Knock", and for the first time collaborated with Dave Battista, who played "Dex the Destroyer" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Battista happily said that he has always been a fan of Naishamalan, and he felt surreal when he received a call from the other party.

His performance in the film is different from the past, and he even revealed that he most wants to take on the challenge of acting in a romantic comedy, "Although I know it's hard to imagine, but I really want to act!"

Battista, who just turned 54 last month, was a professional wrestler. After turning to an actor, he performed in films including the "Interstellar" series, "Dune" and "Blade Runner 2049". He said that he has been looking for Purely dramatic role performance, able to fully immerse myself in showing acting skills, think about it and say with a smile, "It's not that the roles I played before have no acting skills! I just hope that I can try to play it well."

Battista played the role of an elementary school teacher in "Knock Knock". Foreseeing the catastrophe, he and three other strangers broke into the cabin, forcing the family to choose to sacrifice one person, otherwise the end of the world will come.

He looks rough and strong on the outside, but actually has a soft heart, and for this reason he fell into a battle between heaven and man.

Recalling that when he received a call from Naishamalan, Battista said it was incredible, "I was very surprised because he didn't say he wanted to talk to me about a role at the beginning."

The two chatted very happily. After reading the script, Battista felt that this was the role he had been waiting for for a long time. "I immediately asked him the next morning, how can I participate in the performance! I am willing to do anything!" Naishamalan said Recalling that I was troubled about the casting at the beginning, and then I thought of Batista who appeared in the opening scene of "Blade Runner 2049", "After talking about it, I knew that he was the best choice for this role!"

Naishamalan described "Reina" starring Battista as not only complicated but also multi-layered. Battista is this role, a very childish giant." Not to mention Batista's unique experience, acting skills and vulnerability are all what he wants to see from Reina, "I believe he will do his best Played the role, and he did."

In the film, there is a "cruel choice" of sacrificing one's family to save the world. When asked how he would choose, Battista said that although he knew this was not a realistic situation, it was quite difficult just to say it, " I think if I had to choose among my family, I would choose to sacrifice myself, but there should still be a price to pay.” The idea was quite selfless.

"Knock Knock" will be released in Taiwan tomorrow (3rd).
