Doctor fell due to parrot, many bones were broken, the owner had to pay a fine of Rs 74 lakh

A Taiwanese man has been fined $91,350 (Rs 74 lakh) and jailed for two months after a pet parrot injured a doctor, according to a BBC report. The punishment was also done.

Dr. Lin's pelvis was broken and his hip bone dislocated after falling from the bird.

According to Taiwan's Central News Agency, the macaw startled the doctor after sitting on his back and flapping its wings.

According to testimony in court, the owner brought the bird and another macaw to jog near where Dr. Lin was running.

According to the outlet, Dr. Lin filed a civil claim against Macau's owner, Huang, for damages for his financial losses.

He told the court that he spent a week in hospital after his injuries and was unable to work for six months as he recovered, including three months of specialized care.

The doctor in question is a plastic surgeon and he has to stand for long hours to perform the surgery, therefore, causing huge financial loss due to the injury.

His lawyer said, "He can walk now, but if he stands for a long time, there is still numbness."

According to a media spokesperson for the Administrative Division of the Tainan District Court, the case is "rare" and unlike anything heard in a civil court in the past decade.

According to the BBC, the court concluded that Dr Lin's fall was due to Huang's negligence.

The judge reportedly said that the size of the macaw, which is 40 cm long with a 60 cm wing span, meant that the owner of such a large animal should take "protective measures".

Huang said he accepts the court's decision but plans to appeal, claiming that macaws are not predatory birds and that the fine is "too high".
