Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson's nephew, will reprise his role as the King of Pop in a biographical film, reports the world's news agencies.

The film, titled "Michael," will be directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day").

The biopic will explore "the complex man who became the King of Pop," according to a statement made by Lionsgate.

The film will include "all aspects" of Jackson's life and the remarkable performances that made him an icon in the music world. "I am honored to bring my uncle Michael's story to life," said the 26-year-old Jaafar Jackson on Instagram "See you soon," he wrote, addressing fans.

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson, one of the King of Pop's older brothers, bassist and singer of the Jackson Five.

Like his uncle, Jaafar performed from an early age and began singing and dancing at the age of 12.

In 2019, he released his debut single "Got Me Singing".

The role of the King of Pop in "Michael" will be his acting debut.

Shooting for the film will begin this year.

Produced by Graham King ("Bohemian Rhapsody"), he says Jaafar Jackson has the natural ability to impersonate his uncle and bring him to life.

"Jafar is the epitome of my son. It's wonderful to see him carry on the artistic and performing legacy of the Jackson family," said Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson's mother.

"Michael" will be an authorized portrait of the King of Pop, who died in 2009 at the age of 50.

The script for a film, which will be produced with the assistance of the singer's heirs, is entrusted to John Logan ("Gladiator", "The Aviator").
