It is likely that His Majesty was advised to make a more modern choice for the ceremony in May, writes express.co.uk.

According to reports, he is going to wear something calmer and more sophisticated, which will go against the old royal tradition.

Charles' coronation will "reflect the role of the monarch today and look to the future, while drawing on long-standing traditions and splendour."

Most likely, the king will choose to wear his military uniform.

Jo McLaren, head of e-commerce at luxury fashion retailer N.Peal, said:

"King Charles is not afraid of change – his relentless commitment to pressing environmental issues and promoting climate change initiatives is a prime example of this. A more modern take on his coronation outfit would be another reflection on his ability to adapt to and reflect the modern world, and also leave your own mark in history."

As for the guests, they will be allowed to wear more traditional costumes instead of luxurious ceremonial robes made of crimson velvet and ermine.
