Last year, everything happened exactly the opposite.

Charlene and her twin children took part in the traditional burning of a fishing boat to commemorate her patron saint, followed by a celebratory mass.

Princess Charlene was dressed in a long coat and baggy gray trousers with arrows, and pointed toe shoes with heels.

She had leather gloves on her hands.

The princess was without a headdress and with light makeup on her face.

Princess Gabriella wore a powder coat, tight black tights and tall leather boots, while her brother Prince Jacques wore black jeans and a black coat.

Setting fire to a fishing boat on the eve of January 26 has been a tradition in Monaco since 1874, as Monegasques honor their patron saint Devotee.

The patron saint of Monaco is a Christian woman who was persecuted for her faith and killed during the persecution of Diocletian in Corsica.

Her body was supposed to be burned, but the Christians saved it and sent it on a fishing boat to Africa, where they hoped to give it a Christian burial.

The boat got caught in a storm and instead went to Le Guamat, where the chapel of St. George already stood.

The national day is celebrated on January 27, when a mass is held in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God, which is usually attended by members of the princely family.
