The Katavi Regional Police Force is looking for Michael Msapi (40), a resident of Kirando in the Rukwa region on suspicion of injuring him by biting both ears of his mother named Winfrida Athanas (63), a resident of Mchangani Village, Ikola Tarafa Ward of Karema, Tanganyika District.

Katavi Regional Police Commander, ACP Ali Makame, speaking to journalists in his office today, January 27, 2023, said the source of the incident is superstitious beliefs for what is alleged to be the mother bewitching her children and grandchildren.

And the Executive Officer of Ikola Ward, Mwela Mrugwa said that on the day of the incident, the accused Michael Msapi, ambushed his mother, the parent while she was sleeping in her room and then he entered the room and pulled out both her ears using his teeth and caused the mother severe pain.

After he had done that cruelty to his biological mother, the suspect disappeared after his mother screamed for help.

Mrugwa said that after the neighbors heard the screams, they quickly arrived at the area and took Winfrida and then rushed her to the Karema health center, where she continues to receive treatment.
