Traveling with family, relatives and friends during the New Year’s Eve, there must be many beautiful moments captured by your mobile phone. You might as well take advantage of the powerful AI algorithm and practical functions built into the Google Photos app to make good use of these five tricks. The sorting technique quickly sorts the massive photos stored in the mobile phone, so that you don’t have to spend time looking for a needle in a haystack to find photos in the future. The storage capacity of the mobile phone has been reduced, and more space for collecting memories is reserved for the new year.

The first trick is to set the backup image quality to compress and save space

Cloud Backup for Google Photos automatically saves photos and videos to a Google account.

Log in to the same account, and you can view previously stored photos and videos on any device. Each Google account is entitled to 15GB of free cloud storage capacity, including mobile phone photos, Gmail messages, and Google Drive files.

Currently, the high-quality cameras of mobile phones make the photo files easily several MB. If you do not consider purchasing additional cloud space, it is recommended to set the photo backup quality to "compressed quality".

After being compressed by Google, the photo resolution will be reduced to 16 million pixels (the maximum printable size is 24×16 inches), and the video file will be reduced to 1,080P.

Although details and pixels are slightly sacrificed, high quality can still be maintained and more backup space can be freed up.

Operation method: Click "Account Profile Picture" at the top right of the Google Photos App → "Album Settings" → "Backup" → "Manage Storage Space" → "Compress Image Quality".

Step 2 Quickly clean up blurry photos and unnecessary screenshots

Blurred photos, screenshots, or screen recording files can easily fill up cloud storage.

Google Photos automatically lists four categories for photos: large photos and videos, blurred photos, screenshots, and other applications.

Through the built-in "Manage Storage Space" tool, you can quickly browse the image files of this type at one time, and then decide whether to delete them.

Operation method: Click "Account Profile Picture" at the top right of the Google Photos App → "Album Settings" → "Backup" → "Manage Storage Space" → "View and Delete".

Tip 3 Make good use of search and sorting to create classified albums

The mobile phone has accumulated a large number of photos over the years. If you want to quickly remove the unimportant photos and keep the photos full of precious memories, the key is to help the photos to be properly classified and managed.

Google Photos uses machine learning technology and powerful AI detection and recognition capabilities to automatically organize photos into the same category, such as people and pets, places, documents, things, as well as screenshots, selfies, and videos, for quick review tidy.

(As shown below)

Click "Search" at the bottom of the Google Photos interface, and you can see the list of categories that have been automatically listed.

You can also search by manually entering keywords, such as "sunset", "dog", and "cake", and the categories of photos displayed on the search interface will be sorted by time. To create a new album, just click on the photo directly, and click on the top from The "+" icon in the upper corner can quickly and manually create a specific album folder.

(As shown below)

Manually enter specific keywords, select the photos you want to use from the search result photos, and click the "+" on the upper right to quickly create a new album folder.

Step 4 Create face and pet face recognition tags

The search function of Google Photos, in addition to detecting and identifying faces and pets and automatically categorizing them, also provides a "tag" naming function that applies exclusive names to specific people and pets, making it easy to search and quickly share.

When naming the "tag" for face recognition, you must first select "Face Feature Grouping" and "Show People and Pets" under the "Group similar faces into a group" option from the Google Photos settings menu. Manually check these two function buttons to be enabled.

(As shown below)

Select "Account Profile" at the top right of the Google Photos App → "Album Settings" → "Group similar faces into groups" → turn on "Face Feature Grouping" and "Show People and Pets".

(Flip Google, Google Play)

Take creating a photo-specific name tag for a pet as an example. After opening Google Photos, first click "Search" at the bottom, and then manually enter keywords such as: dog, select one of the displayed search photos, and then click on the top right square "..." icon, and the editing options for adding faces will pop up.

A box with recognized faces will appear on the photo screen. Click the thumbnail that says "Add" at the bottom, and then click the "+" icon on the upper right. After editing, you can enter a unique name for the selected face Label.

(As shown below)

Select the pet photo you want to add, click Add name and enter the exclusive label to be applied (such as "Tako Love Dog Baby"), and if the face appears in the photo, Google will automatically add a photo for the label album , just like helping you create an exclusive photo album.

Step 5 Create a Shared Album to Exchange Precious Memories

For well-planned family trips and important gatherings, it is recommended to make good use of the "Shared Album" function of Google Photos. Through the exclusive album jointly created, you can easily collect carefully selected precious photos, which not only saves the time and effort of screening photos one by one. Inconvenient, friends who are invited to share can also add location information to photos, comment on them, or give like feedback.

(as shown in Figure 5 on the right)

It should be noted that the photos added by the invitees to the shared album you created will not be automatically stored in your mobile phone, remember to download and save them manually.

Click "Share" → "Create Shared Album" at the bottom of the Google Photos interface → add an album title → select "Add Photo".

You can also invite sharing objects through mobile phone contacts, LINE or other communication software.
