The "Ivan Vazov" National Theater released tickets at prices from BGN 50 to BGN 400 for the play "In the solitude of the cotton fields" by Bernard-Marie Koltes, directed by Timofey Kulyabin, in which the world-famous American actor John Malkovich participated.

The performance will be played in three consecutive evenings - on February 16, 17 and 18.

Tickets are divided into eight categories.

It is not clear, however, what is driving the sale of the tickets for such huge sums.

In neighboring Greece, the same production will be played days earlier - again on three dates, but between February 9 and 12.

"In the Solitude of the Cotton Fields" will take the Onassis Stegi stage, and tickets range from 5 to 55 euros.

In other words - between 10 and 110 BGN.

Or four times cheaper.

Tickets for a theater with John Malkovich cost up to BGN 400.

Onassis Stegi is a modern culture and art center associated with the foundation of the same name - one of the largest in Europe, which uses its funds and programs to develop Greek culture.

The whole philosophy is based on the understanding that access to culture should be completely unlimited, and for this reason, Onassis Stegi offers a number of discounts for the elderly, youth, unemployed, disabled people.

Discounts are also available to students in Greek and international state and private educational institutions.

Regular tickets are priced at 7 euros.

€5 are unemployed tickets available in all seating areas and for all events.

Tickets for people with disabilities and their companions also cost 5 euros.

Tickets under BGN 400 for John Malkovich sold out in minutes

Unfortunately, however, the performance in Greece is sold out for all dates.

So those who wish to see Malkovich on the Balkan stage will have to dig deeper into their pockets.

What is the reason that the same performance is played in our country for amounts many times higher than those in Greece - it is not entirely clear.

It is clear, however, that the state seems to rather pretend that culture is a national priority, writes frognews.

There are no such discounts in theaters in our country, and tickets for theater productions, opera performances and even cinema are growing.

And despite the fact that our country is poor, and prices in stores are hitting the ceiling.

However, theater halls are often filled to the brim.
