THE MINISTER OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND TOURISM, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, has offered condolences to the family of the late Deus Mwakajegele, a conservation officer who was working in the Serengeti National Park, who was shot by a poisonous arrow while performing his duties in Nyanungu, Tarime District. Minister Chana gave these greetings today, Thursday January 26, 2023, when he arrived at the home of the deceased in the Ngongongale area of ​​Arumeru district in Arusha region, after being touched by the death of the soldier, who during his life devoted himself to protecting wildlife on behalf of Tanzanians.

"As the Minister in charge of natural resources and tourism, I have come here to offer my condolences to the family, relatives, friends and the entire conservation community.

"I have received with great sadness the death of our young man who was attacked with a poisoned arrow by unknown people on January 21, 2023 while performing his duties," explained Dr. Chana.

Following this situation, Minister Chana has strongly criticized the actions of some citizens who take the law into their own hands, while emphasizing that the Conservation Force is strong and will continue to protect all conservation areas for the benefit of the current and future generations.

In another step, Minister Chana has noted that the person allegedly involved in the incident that caused the death of the soldier has already been prosecuted, while other suspects involved in the incident continue to be sought so that the law takes its course.

For his part, the deceased's uncle, Sisito Kigongo, has explained that the soldier was a pillar of the family, so his death has been a big blow to the family, noting that the deceased left behind three children.
