"Today we celebrate an important event in the history of modern Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania... 160 years ago, our peoples united their forces and stood shoulder to shoulder against Russian imperialism and tyranny," said the congratulatory letter read by

Vasyl Zvarych

from the name of the President of Ukraine during the ceremony dedicated to the beginning of the Kalinovsky uprising.

At the same time, Zvarych himself addressed not only the mentioned peoples, but also "esteemed representatives of the community of the Belarusian people" in his introductory speech.

In his speech, the President of Poland

Andrzej Duda

said that he believes that freedom, democracy and the will to self-determination will win in Belarus as well, and the Belarusian people will wait for their freedom.

He also expressed the hope that "the Belarusian people will win their freedom within the framework of their peaceful struggle for what objectively belongs to them - the right to absolute self-determination on their own land."

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who was also present at the solemn event, thanked Duda for mentioning Belarusians in his speech.

The Belarusian politician met with Duda and Lithuanian President

Gitanas Naused

after the ceremony.
