Taking into account that drug addiction remains a global problem, and the fight against it is one of the priorities of the Azerbaijani state, a delegation of employees of the Prosecutor General's Office visited Lisbon on January 16-18 within the framework of the TAIEX program of the European Union in order to study a systematic approach and positive experience.

The employees of the Public Prosecution Office of the General Prosecutor's Office who participated in the visit - Anar Nasibov, Murad Valiyev, Vusal Abdullayev and Valeh Alakbarov, the national coordinator for the fight against drug addiction of the Republic of Portugal and the head of the General Administration for the Intervention of Drug Addiction and Addiction (SICAD) Joao Goulao and Drug Sales of the Judicial Police They held meetings with Artur Vaz, director of the National Union for the Struggle with (UNCTE).

Within the framework of the meeting, detailed information was provided on the legal aspects of the fight against drugs, national action plans for the treatment of people suffering from drug addiction, and the results achieved.

At the next stage of the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the Palmela palace, where the administrative building of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Portugal is located, met with the prosecutors of the Criminal Investigation and Operative Department of the Prosecutor's Office and exchanged detailed views on the similarities and differences of the Portuguese and Azerbaijani legislation in the field of combating drugs, effective fight, mutual A detailed exchange of ideas was held in the direction of cooperation.

In addition, our employees held meetings with representatives of the Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction of the European Union (EMCDDA) and responsible employees of other relevant institutions.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation was given extensive information about the existing differences between the experience of other European Union states and Portugal in the field of combating the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the achieved achievements.
