From February 16 to 19, the festival "Week of Israeli Cinema" will take place in Kyiv cinema "Zhovten".

The slogan of the event: "Cinema of invincibility".

This is a symbolic message, because indomitability is a common feature of the peoples of Israel and Ukraine.

Yes, Israel is a country that, under the constant threat of war, has created an advanced security system, a strong economy, and conducts cultural activities, including developing cinema.

At the same time, Ukraine has been restraining Russian aggression for 11 months, and life, in particular cultural, does not pause here either - even despite the war and blackouts, film festivals continue.

The festival will show four iconic Israeli films recognized at home: the selection includes nominees and award winners of the Israel Film Academy, as well as films participating in the country's largest film festival, Haifa.

These are dramas about war and its consequences, a comedy about friendship and a touching drama about the relationship between a father and a son.

The event will be opened by the epic war drama

"Image of Victory"

, based on the real events of the war for the independence of Israel.

The plot of the picture unfolds around the raid of the armed formations of Egypt on the Jewish commune of Nizanim.

In 2021, the film was awarded the Israel Film Academy awards for the best cinematography and make-up.

"Image of Victory" became the most expensive Israeli film of all time.

The touching drama

"Good Morning Son"

masterfully reflects the trials and tribulations faced by military families in Israel and around the world.

In the center of the plot is a seriously wounded soldier, as well as his family, friends and doctors who are fighting for the young man's life.

Picture from the national competition program of the 2018 Haifa International Film Festival.

There is also a comedy in the selection - a co-production of Israel and France "Paris Boutique".

The tape tells about the adventures and sudden friendship of two women in Jerusalem - a lawyer on business trip and a taxi driver who met her at the airport.

In 2020, the film received six nominations for the Israel Film Academy Award.

"Here we are!"

— a drama co-produced by Israel and Italy.

This is a picture about a man who devoted his life to raising a son with autism.

When the boy becomes an adult, he has to move to a specialized institution, but his father, who is not ready for separation, organizes an escape.

In 2020, the film was selected for the official program of the Cannes Film Festival, and in its homeland it won awards from the Israel Film Academy for the best direction, screenplay, and the work of actors of the first and second plans.

The "Week of Israeli Cinema" festival will be held at the "Zhovten" cinema in Kyiv on February 16-19.

All screenings will be in the original language with Ukrainian subtitles.
