Filming of the western "Rust" will continue in the United States, despite the incident with the death of cameraman Halina Hutchins, who was accidentally shot on the set by American actor Alec Baldwin, Fox News reported.

This was announced on Sunday by Melina Spadown, a lawyer for the company Rust Movie Productions, whose production is the film.

"The film, starring Alec Baldwin and directed by Joel Souza, is nearing completion," she said.

According to the lawyer, special safety inspectors and trade union members will be involved in the filming process, who will monitor what is happening.

The use of working weapons and any ammunition will be prohibited during filming.

On Thursday, prosecutor Mary Carmack-Oltwise, who is investigating the shooting on the set of the movie, said the New Mexico state attorney's office has decided to charge actor Alec Baldwin with the manslaughter of cameraman Halina Hutchins, who died in a shooting on the set of the movie "Rust ".

Authorities have announced their intention to file charges against Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, who was in charge of the weapons on the set.

According to the prosecutor, two charges have been brought against each of the two.

Thus, it will subsequently be possible to determine in court which of the two types of crime Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reid will be charged with.

Charges will be formally filed by the end of January.

The actor's attorney, Luke Nikas, said he will contest the charges against Alec Baldwin.

In the fall of 2022, Baldwin reached an agreement with the family of slain cameraman Halina Hutchins that he would not press charges in her murder. At the time, Mary Carmack-Oltwise said the settlement between the actor and the Hutchins family would not affect the final decision on whether criminal charges be brought.

In 2021, during a rehearsal on the set of the western "Rust" starring Alec Baldwin, the actor fired a weapon that turned out to be loaded with live cartridges, not blanks.

Cinematographer Halina Hutchins and director Joel Souza were injured.

The latter was discharged from the hospital a few hours later, but doctors were unable to save Hutchins.

The filming of the film, which Baldwin is also a co-producer, has been suspended, adds BTA.
