In achieving various strategic projects, the National Commercial Bank (NBC) has promised to be at the forefront by cooperating with the government and contractors with the aim of ensuring that strategic projects implemented for the benefit of Tanzanians are completed on time.

NBC Bank is among the institutions that participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony to mark the start of the construction project of the modern railway (SGR) for the fourth section starting from Taborahadi Isaka in Kahama district, Shinyanga.

Addressing the people at the event, Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango called on the Ministry of Construction and Transport, the Board of Directors and the TRC Staff to continue to fulfill their responsibility to manage the implementation of strategic projects so that they can be completed on time and with the required quality.

In addition, he has instructed the defense and security agencies to arrest those who are sabotaging the SGR project.

"I am instructing the security and defense agencies to identify the theft network on the SGR project and arrest them all as well as take strict legal action against them," said Dr Mpango.

On his part, the representative of the NBC CEO Simon Ntwale told the Vice President DK Mpango how the bank is fully participating in the construction of the big project.

"We at NBC bank have fully participated in enabling the contractor Yapi Merkezi to buy the machinery for the construction.

We have also facilitated the compensation exercise for those affected by this project," Ntwale told Dr Mpango after visiting the NBC booth.

He added that NBC has enabled the purchase of modern heads and wagons for the project.

Initially giving information on the construction of the project, the Director of TRC, Masanja Kadogosa said that the capacity to carry cargo through the modern railway will grow up to 120 tons per carriage, which is three times the current railway which can only carry 40 tons per carriage.

He said that through the construction, TRC hopes to improve the railway college in Tabora and be able to offer a degree in railways immediately after completion.

He also said that TRC has continued to save costs to a large extent through railway construction contracts that do not allow an increase in costs from the contractor due to changes in the prices of materials and raw materials.
