Staff from the Peach City Health Bureau recently went to New Year’s Eve restaurants, supermarkets, stores, North and South grocery stores and manufacturing industries within its jurisdiction to sample and test seasonal food, including ready-to-eat meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and poultry. A total of 143 pieces of livestock and aquatic products, mushrooms, pickled vegetables, processed meat products, cakes, rice noodle products, soy products, spices and snacks, among which 1 piece of shredded ginger, 2 pieces of vegetables and 2 pieces of Brazil mushroom inspection results Any non-compliance with the regulations has been transferred to the Yunlin County, Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Changhua County Health Bureaus under the jurisdiction of the source for follow-up, and the industry has been ordered to remove the products from the shelves and not sell them.

The Health Bureau stated that the 5 unqualified products in the random inspection exceeded the legal safety allowable amount, respectively. Sulfur dioxide was detected in shredded ginger at 0.09 g/kg, and the standard was 0.03 g/kg, which violated the provisions of Article 18 of the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law and may be punished. A fine of more than NT$30,000 and less than NT$3 million; 0.019ppm of fipronil and 0.011ppm of fipronil metabolites detected in white radish, the standard 0.001 ppm, and 0.17 ppm of emetin detected in 1 piece of Baoxinbai, the standard 0.05 ppm, in violation of Article 15 of the Food Safety Law, a fine ranging from NT$60,000 to NT$200 million can be imposed; the other two pieces of Agaricus mushrooms were found to contain heavy metals cadmium 11 mg/kg and cadmium 9 mg/kg, the standard is 2 mg/kg, violating Article 17 of the Food Safety Law, food pollutants and toxins hygienic standards, after a deadline to make corrections, those who do not make corrections within the time limit may be fined from 30,000 to 3 million yuan; detailed random inspection results are published on the website of the Health Bureau And Taoshi Anxin information platform "press release" area for public reference.
