The trial of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Nakhchivan, Lt. General Ahmet Ahmadov, has been postponed.

APA informs that the hearing on the case submitted to judge Alasgar Novruzov at the Supreme Court will be held on January 18.

At the meeting, the appeal regarding the extension of the term of the cassation appeal regarding Ahmet Ahmadov should have been considered.

It should be noted that Ahmet Ahmadov, who was the Minister of Internal Affairs of Nakhchivan for 17 years, was released from his post in 2020, and was detained and arrested in Baku that year.

According to the verdict of the Military Court of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ahmad Ahmadov was found guilty of embezzlement, abuse of power, bribery and dereliction of duty and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict without changing it.

Some time ago, Ahmet Ahmadov's condition worsened.

He was placed in Nakhchivan Diagnostic-Treatment Center.
