The first case of a patient with a triple viral infection - COVID-19, flu and respiratory syncytial virus - has been registered in Romania, reported media in our northern neighbor, quoted by BTA.

It is about a 58-year-old man hospitalized in the Hospital for Infectious Diseases "St. Paraskeva" in the eastern city of Iaşi.

The infected person has concomitant diseases such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, pathological obesity, which means a significant decrease in his immunity, the medical facility informs.

"On admission to the hospital, the patient had significant respiratory dysfunction and this necessitated his admission to the intensive care unit. He is currently conscious, stable and on non-invasive ventilation. However, we refrain from making a prognosis," said the director of the medical facility, Dr. Florin Rochu.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said that no restrictions will be introduced in Romania in the context of the new wave of coronavirus from China.

"The only restrictions are related to the activity in hospitals, where the staff must be properly equipped, wear a mask and everyone who comes into contact with the patient must do the same," commented the minister.
