About 60% of patients have increased headache frequency during the epidemic

According to research, 59.6% of migraine patients had increased headache frequency and 64.1% had increased migraine severity during the COVID-19 epidemic, which may be related to stress and changes in sleep habits caused by the epidemic.

In addition, weather changes, drinking alcoholic beverages and women's premenstrual period may induce migraines. Even if the epidemic slows down, we still need to pay attention.

◎Traditional Chinese medicine can roughly divide headache symptoms into "wind-cold headache", "wind-heat headache", "headache with hyperactivity of liver-yang", "headache with deficiency of qi and blood" and other types.

●"Wind-cold headache" refers to headaches that are aggravated or induced by cold weather or cold wind.

●"Feng-heat headache" gets its name from the feeling of fever and pain in the head.

●Headaches often change with emotions. Headaches and even dizziness occur during attacks, which belong to "hepatic yang hyperactivity type headache".

●If you often feel tired, dizzy and accompanied by pain in your head, it belongs to "qi and blood deficiency headache".

Regardless of the type of headache, in the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, corresponding drugs and acupuncture will be given according to different triggering causes, constitution, and pain location.

After diagnosis, it was found that Mr. Chen had a "wind-cold headache". He gave Mr. Chen medicine to dispel wind and disperse cold. When he returned to the clinic after 1 week, he had no more headaches. Afterwards, he continued to give medicine to dispel wind and nourish yin, which could prevent recurrence of headache and reduce chronic migraine risks of.

Foods that can easily induce headaches should be avoided and keep your head warm

In addition to medication, develop regular work and rest, diet, sleep, and exercise habits, avoid foods that easily induce migraines (such as cheese, red wine, citrus fruits, and processed meats), keep your head warm when the temperature changes, and avoid excessive headaches. Temperature difference, etc., can also effectively reduce the occurrence of migraine.

Although general headaches can be alleviated by painkillers, traditional Chinese medicine, and acupuncture, if sudden severe headaches, headaches due to head trauma, headaches accompanied by weakness in hands and feet, numbness, altered consciousness or abnormal neck stiffness, or New headaches that are different from the previous headaches are all abnormal warning signs, so be sure to seek medical attention for further examination.
