Many brides dream of a special dress, so some prefer designer dresses, others wear family heirlooms that have been passed down in their family from generation to generation.

But there are also those girls who dream of creating their own outfit, for example, by developing its design.

But a bride named

Veronika Linberg

from Finland went even further and decided to knit her wedding dress from scratch.

The bride shared this unique story on Instagram, as well as on her YouTube channel, Insider reports.

Veronika, or as she is also called Kika, is a professional knitter and has been creating things from yarn for many years.

Her grandmother taught her to knit when she was five years old, and since then it has been one of the biggest passions in her life.

She started sharing her works on social networks in 2017, when she opened an Instagram account, and then she also created a YouTube channel where she shares knitting lessons for beginners.

In the summer of 2022, Kika and her boyfriend decided to get married and the wedding was scheduled for September.

After the engagement, the bride thought that it would be great to tie her wedding dress herself, and somehow document the process of its creation to show her followers.

Thus began the most difficult and ambitious project in the life of our heroine.

The fact is that the bride's time was relatively short for such a large-scale project, but she decided to take a risk.

Veronica bought 30 skeins of white pure silk yarn for about $290 and got to work.

"Everything was very spontaneous, we didn't have much time to plan. At first I thought it would be too difficult to make my own wedding dress. I also thought that if I ordered it, it would take a very long time... then I started to think, 'Maybe , I just have to do it myself.

I'm a designer, I knit!" she said.

She crocheted and knitted, and did it almost everywhere she could.

Also, she tried to film all the moments of creating a handmade dress, shares her advice, failures, showed how she unraveled and reworked it.

In general, the knitting process took the girl 45 days and 200 hours.

She said that she had never knitted a dress before, although she has been doing this craft almost all her life.

So it was quite a risky prank and a bit stressful because she didn't know if she would get what she wanted in the end.

Also, she was a little worried that the outfit would be like her grandmother's dress, and she wanted something couture.

Therefore, during the development of the design, she began to consider various knitted models of dresses from fashion shows, in particular from Dior and Chanel.

As a result, Kika chose a complex design with long sleeves, an open square neckline and a long skirt that would fall elegantly and slightly resemble a "fish" style.

In the process of work, Veronica also studied a lot of knitting literature from her library to choose the right pattern, but not everything went as well as it might seem.

The girl repeatedly experienced difficulties, for example, such as the fact that the knitted bodice of the dress was too big for her or that the sleeves did not hold and constantly slipped, exposing the shoulders.

Therefore, the knitter had to dissolve everything and start the process anew.

And the process of knitting the skirt was exhausting in general, because it took as many as four weeks to create it.

Linberg also hand-stitched a cover to wear under her knitted dress.

"I didn't know what it was going to look like until I actually finished the dress and tried it on," she said.

"But it was very, very nice and very special."
