"The situation is not so terrible. Omicron and I have been dealing for a year and three months, and if we look at the global aspect - in the USA there was a period when the cases reached a million. From the New Year there were about 130,000 people, and now there are 65,000 , gradually decreasing. In Bulgaria, the cases had also decreased, but you know that around the New Year there was a stir and there were increases up to 300 people. But anyway, if we look at the world - the average incidence is about 200 cases per 1 million population ", hematologist Prof. Chavdar Botev said in the "Day ON AIR" studio.

According to him, the mortality rate is about 0.5-0.7%.

Prof. Botev: Omicron is the most insidious, this is what it causes and damages

"Science requires longer observation to determine how mild a variant is, but in general there are no observations that it is more severe. The virus follows biological laws, it has to find its way and re-infect different subjects Compared to the Alpha variant - the Delta variant is 5 times more contagious, and compared to Omicron - the new variant is 2 times more contagious than Delta. But there is one exception - China, where there are perhaps hundreds of millions of patients at the moment," added Prof. Botev on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to him, 90% of the population in the country has been vaccinated.

"There is a boom, but practically out of 10 people - 9 are asymptomatic and one has symptoms. This is because of the vaccines. The problem is part of the elderly population who are not vaccinated. They do not want to take Western vaccines because they take it as a risky option. But we need to be calm about COVID-19, what we should not be calm about is post-Covid," the hematologist is emphatic.

Kato admitted that he is currently monitoring two very severe cases of the flu.

"Saturation in covid patients is a bit fake, when warmed up it rises to values that in normal medicine are considered incompatible with life. Here, the violation of the vessels is a very specific variant and the fact that it is one of the mistakes - some people were intubated , but without any need. Unfortunately, we did not draw any conclusions from all that happened," added Prof. Chavdar Botev.

"In a family, if influenza A is detected, only one may test positive. That is why it must be monitored epidemiologically, the symptoms can be quite different. There are many people with influenza A, whole families get sick. Everyone has it individually. Low Vitamin D is very important, the general condition, accompanying diseases. I have also seen patients who are suffering from several viruses. You just have to take measures," he explained.

And why is post-COVID the biggest problem?

"Post-Covid is something we've been waiting for and it's come with a frightening force. The problem is that there's little talk. It's believed that 5 to 80% of people have post-Covid. For every disease, clinical trials need to be done. He can appear a year, two after the disease. We will try to collect what science has collected. They are about 220 post-Covid symptoms. We will make it more accessible for people to know them. There are people who post-Covid - 19 are bedridden, and they are 40-50 years old, some of them need a lung transplant," comments Prof. Botev.

And he stressed that we should avoid foods processed at high temperatures: "You can drink a spoonful of olive oil in the morning on an empty stomach and it will have an impact on a huge number of diseases, and it will slowly reset. The nuts you eat, eat them raw."
