On January 3 of this year, video footage showing two young people throwing shoes at the statue of genius composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov in front of the National Conservatory was shared on social networks.

Chief of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, senior police lieutenant Zeyni Huseynov told APA that the footage was examined by police officers and 21-year-old Ismayilov Elvin Elgun oglu and 17-year-old Jafarov Farid Fakhreddin oglu were identified and detained.

During the investigation, Elvin Ismayilov admitted that on January 1 this year around 15:40, while passing in front of the National Conservatory in a drunken state, he threw the shoes in his bag in the direction of the statue in order to joke with his friend Farid Jafarov.

In connection with the fact, an administrative offense protocol was drawn up with the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses against both persons, Farid Jafarov was fined, and Elvin Ismayilov was administratively arrested for 15 days by the decision of the Court.

Police Lieutenant Nurlan Aliyev, an employee of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, informed APA about this.

Nurlan Aliyev said that legal measures have been taken against that person: "That person has been identified, invited to the police body and legal measures have been taken."
