Over 300 life-saving medicines are missing from the pharmacy network.

It's not just about antibiotics, it makes a difference because it's flu season.

This was announced by the chairman of the Association of Pharmacy Owners Nikolay Kostov on BTV.

He explained that only one-third of life-saving medications can be replaced with something else.

According to him, when it comes to antibiotics, not only exports are the cause of the problem, but increased demand.

Purely logistical and manufacturing reasons are also involved.

"The export of medicines is legal, but first the Bulgarian market must be satisfied. However, traders do not do it," said Kostov.

He explained that the control body is the Medicines Executive Agency.

In addition, the instrument that was created to control exports must be changed.

Kostov added that there is an expert council that has been working on changing the mechanism of drug export for a month.

"Compared to all the surrounding countries that don't have this system, we have it.

It just has to be used and it has to be done in such a way that it is not circumvented.

These 300 medicines are exported the most.

These are very expensive medications.

They are usually the innovative companies, large companies," explained the chairman of the Association of Pharmacy Owners.

He added that it is not known when they will be available again in our country, because some have even been missing for years, not months.
