[Reporter Wu Liangyi/Taipei Report] Lung cancer has been the top ten cause of cancer death in my country for many years. The National Health Service has included lung cancer high-risk groups in the "Fifth Cancer" subsidized screening since July last year. It will end on December 26 last year. A total of 22,451 people across the country have been checked and 160 lung cancer cases were found.

Lung cancer is the cancer with the highest mortality rate in the world. The standardized mortality rate of lung cancer in my country for 110 years is 22.2 per 100,000 people. It has always been the top cause of cancer death in Taiwan and has always been the "national disease" of Chinese people.

Lung cancer has no symptoms in the early stage, and it is mostly in the late stage when significant symptoms appear.

According to statistics from the National Health Administration in the past six months, from July 1 to December 26, 22,451 people across the country have been examined, and 160 confirmed lung cancer cases have been found, including early (stage 0 and 1) cases Accounting for 86.3% (138 people), it shows that LDCT (low-dose computed tomography) lung cancer screening does help to reverse the distribution of lung cancer, allowing people to diagnose lung cancer early and receive treatment as soon as possible, thus greatly improving the survival rate of lung cancer.

The National Health Administration today explained the results of the new measures half a year after their launch. Yang Panchi, an academician of the Academia Sinica and an authority on lung cancer, pointed out that most of the international research focuses on smokers. At present, only some countries provide lung cancer screening services for heavy smokers, while my country Studies have shown that family history of lung cancer is the most important risk factor known so far for lung cancer in non-smokers.

Yang Panchi said that in addition to providing heavy smokers, our country also provides LDCT lung cancer screening for family history of lung cancer, because the vast majority of female lung cancer patients do not smoke at all, "This is an important screening that Taiwan leads the world."

my country previously had national screening for colorectal cancer, oral cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. Last year, there was an addition of lung cancer screening, collectively referred to as "five cancer screenings." Director of the National Health Commission Wu Zhaojun said that one case of lung cancer was detected early. It is to save one more family; the lung cancer screening process only takes 5 minutes and is not invasive. If it can be detected and treated early, it will not have to bear the physical and mental pain and huge medical expenses in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.

Since July 1 last year, the National Health Administration has begun to subsidize high-risk groups of lung cancer for LDCT examinations every two years, and lung cancer has been included in the fifth cancer screening in my country. The subsidized screening objects include:

1. Family history of lung cancer: males aged 50 to 74 or females aged 45 to 74 whose parents, children or siblings have been diagnosed with lung cancer.

2. Heavy smokers: heavy smokers aged 50 to 74 with a smoking history of more than 30 pack-years, who are willing to quit smoking or have not quit smoking for 15 years.

The National Health Department cooperates with 142 hospitals across the country to promote the early detection of lung cancer program, and encourages qualified people to make appointments and checkups at the contracted hospitals of the National Health Department for lung cancer screening.
