Officers of the Balakan District Police Department conducted a series of operations against people involved in illegal drug trafficking in the district.

As a result of the actions held in the last two days, 8 people were detained, and 15 kilograms of drugs were removed from circulation.

According to the information provided to APA by the Sheki regional group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the cousins ​​Farman and Israfil Garayev were detained during the operation.

Marijuana was found on relatives during a personal search.

With the ongoing measures, it was also determined that Farman Garayev was hiding a large amount of drugs at his address.

During the inspection of his house located in Gerakli village, dried marijuana with a total weight of about 14 kilograms was discovered.

During the investigation, it was found that the detained person obtained the drug from the hemp bushes he cultivated in the forest area in March of last year.

During the inspection of that forest massif, parts of drug-containing plants were taken from it and handed over for investigation.

As a result of the next operation-search measures carried out by the police officers, 6 more people suspected of selling and keeping drugs were arrested - Asgar Askerov, Rizvan Jucuyev, Azer Gardashov, Kamran Aliyev, Araz Babayev and his relative Nazim Baradov.

A large amount of powerful narcotics - heroin and marijuana - was found in them and removed from circulation.


It should be noted that most of the detained persons were previously convicted for the same act and they admitted in their explanations that they were engaged in illegal drug trafficking.

Regarding the facts, criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Balakan District Police Department, and operations are being continued in the direction of exposing the people who spread "white death" in the district.
