[Reporter Ling Meixue/Taipei Report] The new chairman of the National Arts Association has been announced, and the writer Xiang Yang will be in charge.

The National Arts Association held the first meeting of the new board of directors this afternoon (3rd), and Xiang Yang was elected as the chairman at the meeting.

Xiang Yang said that he will continue the existing foundation and lead the National Arts Association to "take root in Taiwan and step forward to the world."

Xiang Yang, whose real name is Lin Qizhen, was born in 1955. He is famous for his poetry, as well as prose, children's literature, cultural commentary, and political commentary.

Visiting writer of the International Writing Program (International Writing Program) of the University of Iowa, USA, Ph.D. of the Department of Journalism, National Chengchi University.

He used to be the editor-in-chief of the "Zili" newspaper department, and the deputy director and chief editor of "Zili Evening News".

He has successively taught at the Department of Ethnic Language and Communication of National Dong Hwa University and the Institute of Ethnic Development, the Institute of Taiwan Literature of National Chung Hsing University, and the Institute of Taiwan Culture of National Taipei University of Education; he has accumulated more than 40 academic research papers and monographs.

He has won the Wu Zhuoliu New Poetry Award, the National Literature and Art Award, the Yushan Literature Award for Literary Contribution, the Taiwan Literature Award for New Poetry, the Ministry of Education's "Outstanding Contribution Award for the Promotion of Local Language", and the Golden Melody Award for Best Lyricist in the Communication Arts category, etc.
