The number of patients with acute respiratory diseases in the Multidisciplinary Hospital for Active Treatment (MBAL) in Shumen is increasing, Dr. Yordanka Marinova from the medical facility told BTA.

According to her, the trend has been since the end of December, when mainly children were sick, and now - also adults.

"The low level of patients with COVID-19 makes it possible to activate the remaining viral infections," commented Dr. Marinova.

She expects the peak of people infected with flu viruses in the city and the region to be towards the end of January.

Currently, 12 patients with coronavirus infection are being treated at the hospital.

Today, a 75-year-old woman lost her battle with the disease, noted Dr. Marinova.

The number of people hospitalized with a coronavirus infection in the hospital remains the same.

Last week (December 19 - 25), 11 people infected with the virus were treated at the Medical Center - Shumen, Dr. Marinova added.
