COUNCILORS, leaders of the Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) branches and wards in South Mufindi State have asked the government to send them the subsidized fertilizer that has been used in the villages.

Leaders have said this at different times on January 2, 2023 in the performance evaluation session in 2022 and to set a joint strategy to prepare for the 2024 local government elections.

The meeting was called by the Member of Parliament for Mufindi South, who is also the Chairman of the Parliament of Tanzania, David Kihenzile.

Speaking at the special local meeting, the leaders thanked the CCM government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for subsidizing fertilizer, where this year it is sold at Shs 70,000 per bag instead of Shs 130,000 in 2021

Opening the session, which was held at the Masangula hall, Igowole, the Chairman of CCM Mufindi District, George Kavenuke, said the shortage of subsidized fertilizer has become a big challenge that is being shouted by the people of Mufindi and asked the government to hear the cry and send fertilizer, while praising the State Member of Parliament that David Kihenzile for a good performance.

"Mufindi South has found a leader, hold on to him, a replacement for Mungai (Joseph) has been found, he is doing great things in the road sector, Mungai used to call us all like this and slaughter cows, we ate and were happy, Kihenzile is the same, this is the leadership, stay and people eat together," he said.

And Member of Parliament Kihenzile speaking to HabariLEO by phone, while concluding the arguments and summaries of the meetings, asked the government to intervene in the matter immediately, so that the government's commitment to lower prices can benefit the citizens of Mufindi and Tanzanians in general.

"Fertilizer is not available for us, which is the biggest challenge, I ask the government to help find it, we have a very big challenge, it has become more of a problem despite the fact that the government gave subsidies, but fertilizer is not available," said Kihenzile.

Kihenzile said in the meeting, the leaders along with agreeing each branch to complete the work plan and priorities of the branch and ward, have also asked the CCM to carry out various tasks.

He said that the leaders have also thanked the CCM government for the construction of the Sawala Luhunga road 30 km parallel and agreed to finish the remaining 10 kilometer section to Iyegea.

"But they are more than happy that their government for the first time passed the budget for the construction of the asphalt level of the roads Mafinga-Mgololo 78 Kilometers and Nyololo-Mtwango 40.4 Kilometers," said Kihenzile and added:

"The CCM leaders are very happy with the government plan to start the construction of VETA Vocational College, in parallel with starting the construction of an apricot factory in Nyololo County."
