The trial of Khaliq Mammadov, who was accused of stabbing former National Hero Rasim Akbarov, has ended.

According to APA, the verdict was read at the Ganja Serious Crimes Court in the process chaired by judge Elmin Rustamov.

According to the verdict, Khaliq Mammadov was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison.

He will serve his sentence in a special regime penitentiary.

It should be noted that the incident took place in September last year in Goranboy district.

Former National Hero, Mammadov Khaliq Fuzuli, who stabbed the son of Akbarov Rasim Agha, born in 1956, was arrested and sentenced to death.

It should be recalled that Akbarov Rasim Agha oglu was awarded the honorary title "National Hero of Azerbaijan" by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated June 23, 1992, for his personal bravery and bravery in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ensuring the safety of the peaceful population.

However, this honorary title was later canceled for R. Akbarov, who was accused of attempting a coup d'état and received a 15-year prison sentence.

By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan No. 537 dated July 18, 2001, R. Akbarov was deprived of the title "National Hero of Azerbaijan" and the "Flag of Azerbaijan" order.
