A theater in Italy has canceled a performance by a famous Russian ballet dancer who has three tattoos of President Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin - Russian politician.

Born on October 7, 1952 in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg. Across the chest and shoulders, in response to online protests against the artist's planned appearance, BTA reports.

The performance of Sergei Polunin on January 28 and 29 at "Archimboldi" has been canceled "due to an insistent campaign against him on the Internet and social media," the theater in Milan announced on its website.

Polunin was supposed to star in Rasputin - a Dance Drama, a ballet originally planned for 2019 and repeatedly postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The theater states that the cancellation of the performance is "an act of political and moral responsibility, given the situation of tension and threats".

An Arcimboldi spokeswoman explained that the theater had been subjected to an email campaign as well as a lot of negative messages online.

The decision to cancel the performance was made with the consent of Polunin's company.

The Arcimboldi Theater also said that they are firmly against the war in Ukraine, noting that they have organized performances by the Russian dissident group "Kiss the Paradise" and by Ukrainian artists.

Sergey Polunin, one of the biggest names in the world of dance and former director of the Royal Ballet in London, was born in Ukraine, but in 2018 he acquired Russian citizenship.

So far, there has been no response to a request for comment made through his website.

In September, while on tour in Uzbekistan, Polunin performed a dance in military uniform in memory of fallen Russian soldiers, earning reprimand from local authorities who said he deviated from the agreed program.
