[Health Channel/Comprehensive Report] The cold current covers the whole Taiwan, and the temperature in various places is slippery, resulting in frequent cases of sudden death due to low temperature.

Doctors said that in the face of more and more sudden death cases, as long as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is rescued in time within 6 to 8 minutes of prime time, it may be possible to save lives. Minutes drop by 10%. When encountering someone who is suddenly in a coma, please remember the 4 first aid steps of "Calling Piezoelectricity".

Chest and critical care specialist Huang Xuan posted on the Facebook page "Dr. Ooi Hean Huang Xuan" that 350,000 people die suddenly in the United States every year, but only 32% of them receive first aid at the moment of sudden death.

70% of the places of sudden death are mainly at home, others are public places (18.8%) and nursing care institutions (11.2%).

According to research, the probability of first aid in public places is relatively high, and the rate of sudden death at home is very low. It may be because most of the relatives who get along with each other do not know how to perform CPR.

Warning call piezoelectric first aid steps

Huang Xuan emphasized that the time for rescuing patients with sudden death is very short, as long as the heart stops for more than 6 to 8 minutes, no matter how miraculous first aid is, it will be difficult to recover.

When encountering a person who is suddenly unconscious, don’t panic, please remember the 4 first aid steps of “Call Piezo”, and proceed one by one:

●The first step of first aid, "Calling":

It is definitely not to press the chest or give an electric shock first, but to call first to see if the patient responds, to confirm whether there is breathing and other reactions.

●First aid step 2 "Call":

Call others to dial 119, or ask others to help with first aid, and quickly find and take out the AED for first aid.

●First aid step 3 "chest compression" CPR:

Before chest compression, untie the patient's clothes, check the area around the chest compression and whether there is any foreign object in his mouth.

The ideal position is for the rescuer to kneel at the side of the patient in a high kneeling position, with knees shoulder-width apart, and the buttocks should not sit on the calves.

When performing chest compressions, place the heel of your palm in the middle of the line connecting the patient’s two nipples, that is, the center of the sternum, then straighten your elbow, and press down 5 cm. During the compression process, your elbow must not bend , press up and down with the strength of the body, and rescue at a frequency of 100 to 120 presses per minute and 2 presses per second.

●First aid step 4 "shock":

that is, use the AED to shock the patient.

Do not stop compressions while someone else is opening the AED.

After turning on the AED, stick it on the designated position on the patient according to the instructions on the instrument, and then give the electric shock; keep away from the patient during the electric shock.

After the electric shock, go back to step 3 and continue to press the chest.

During this time, the AED may ask the rescuer to move away from the patient while the patient's heart rhythm is analyzed.

CPR+AED helps blood continue to circulate and heart recovers

Huang Xuan said that to rescue the sudden death, on the one hand, it is necessary to quickly perform CPR and chest compressions to keep the blood circulating and provide oxygen to the vital organs of the body;

Therefore, CPR+AED electric shock is the first aid tool for the best partner.

Huang Xuan reminded that the mobile phone must have the "National First Aid AED" app, and must learn to use CPR+AED, because 70% of sudden deaths are likely to happen at home, so if sudden death happens in front of you, if you don't go, you will not use CPR+ AED, then the survival rate drops by 10% every minute.

Three minutes after the sudden death, the brain cells of the sudden death may all die, and when the ambulance arrives, everything will be too late.
