[Reporter Lin Minzhen/Taichung Report] Xiao Rusong is one of the most important watercolor painters in Taiwan's art history, and his unique painting style is highly praised by the art circle.

This year marks the 100th birthday, Asia University Museum of Modern Art will hold "Taiwanese Watercolor Painting Non-Representationalism—Xiao Rusong Centennial Birthday Commemorative Tour Exhibition", which is divided into 6 exhibition areas, exhibiting more than 100 paintings, manuscripts and ancient cultural relics, presenting The artistic trajectory of Xiao Rusong's life is on display until April 9, 2023.

President of Asia University Cai Jinfa said that Xiao Rusong is a representative painter of Hsinchu County, known as "the interpreter of the beauty of Hsinchu County", and occupies an important place in the history of Taiwanese art.

After the Asian American Museum passed the certification of a private museum in October this year, Xiao Rusong’s touring exhibition was selected for the first exhibition, hoping to let more people appreciate the beauty of his paintings, and to practice the environmental education that Asia University has long been concerned about, and to inspire aesthetics through the exhibition.

Cai Jinfa pointed out that through Xiao Rusong's paintings, one can feel the vitality of nature and his love for nature; through the aesthetic education conveyed by art, the goal of symbiosis between human beings and the environment and the pursuit of sustainability is self-evident.

He is not only a local painter, but also an international painter, and an outstanding artist and educator who transcends time and space. This is an art exhibition with epochal significance.

Chen Jiyuan, Secretary General of Hsinchu County, said that Xiao Rusong has taught at Zhudong High School in Hsinchu for many years, and his creative themes revolve around the campus and the teachers’ dormitory where he lives. ", he adopts unique brushwork and color, presenting a concise and bright creative style, which is worth savoring carefully.

Pan Chen, director of the Asian American Museum, said that Xiao Rusong is a generalist painter who creates landscapes, still lifes, and figures. Due to limited financial resources, he chooses to create in watercolor, but he can use opaque watercolor to express a sense of depth and layering like oil paintings; Abandoning the mainstream figurative painting style at that time, he used abstract paintings to express the overlapping and orderly art world, and established his own style.
