377 SUSPECTS have been convicted for offenses involving drugs in various courts in Tanzania Mainland and Islands.

The statement issued today December 23, 2022 by the Head of the Police Unit for the Prevention and Combating of Drugs in the country, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Amon Kakwale has said that from July to November, 2022, a total of 369 cases were brought to court and a decision was made.

He said in those decisions, 170 suspects were imprisoned for those crimes.

ACP Kakwale has also said that the Army seized fire equipment and houses and confiscated them as government property.

He has mentioned that eight cars, nine motorcycles, two boats and one house were nationalized

"The army will not allow anyone to be arrested for being involved in the illegal drug trade and is asking the public to provide information on a few people who are involved in criminal incidents so that action can be taken against them," he said.
