Telegram channel @MAYDAYMog reported on December 23 that a convict died in the Gomel women's colony (correctional colony No. 4).

"The incident took place on the night of December 14-15.

One of the women, who was in the medical box of the colony, was urgently taken to the intensive care unit of one of the hospitals in Goml.

But it was not possible to save her," the Telegram channel reported.

According to MAYDAYMog, which refers to medics, the cause of the woman's death is the negligence of PC-4 employees, who simply did not want to take the prisoner to a civilian hospital until the last moment.

As a result, medical assistance was provided to her late.

The surname of the deceased and the article under which the woman was convicted were not announced.

As Svoboda learned from its sources, the deceased woman was serving her sentence in ward No. 10 of the women's colony.

This is the so-called unit for "juveniles", that is, teenagers under 18 years of age.

Some girls who have already turned 18 are serving their sentences here. In the detachment, the largest contingent are girls under 18 years old, convicted under drug articles.

"She was in prison, most likely, for drugs.

She was lying in the sled section of the colony.

Probably something serious, because you can only get into the sledge if you are at the point of death.

Her condition worsened.

They were sent by ambulance to the hospital.

She died there," Svoboda's source said.

The interlocutor adds that such cases happen periodically in the women's colony.

On November 29, police prisoner Mariya Kalesnikova was taken from the Gomel women's colony to the hospital's intensive care unit.

When the threat to Kolesnikova's life disappeared, she was put back behind bars, now Maria is in a prison.

The case of Kalesnikova attracted the attention of both Belarusian and foreign media.

"Cases of the deaths of imprisoned women are not public, if the person was imprisoned not for "politics", but for drugs, fraud, murder.

Two women died with me while I was serving my sentence there.

Unfortunately, this happens in the colony," added another source of Svoboda, who was recently released from the women's colony in Gomli.

There is no separate colony for girls who have committed crimes in Belarus, only a special detention center in Petrykavo.

Teenage girls aged 12-13 are placed there.

In the "juveniles" unit in the Goml women's colony, girls receive an education and learn certain working professions - seamstresses or hairdressers.

Theoretically, if they wish, they can even get a higher education, it is done remotely.

The correctional colony cooperates with Pavlo Sukhoi State Technical University and Frantiszko Skaryna State University.
