Small patients with viral infections are filling more and more pediatrics across the country.

Experts warn that currently every second child is a carrier of some infection.

In a large part of the medical institutions, there are almost no free beds, and doctors expect an increase in morbidity after a 2-year lull due to COVID-19.

"Currently, the capacity of the entire clinic, three wards, is 30 beds.

In fact, in recent days they are almost constantly filled.

There are two free beds, but it is only a matter of time before they are filled."

Dr. Ivaylo Nikolov from the Pediatric Clinic, Aleksandrovska UMBAL, said this on the air of "Hello, Bulgaria".

According to him, children come to the Clinic with breathing difficulties, cough, fever and general fatigue.

GP: Children stay indoors, become obese and get sick more

"These are symptoms that accompany respiratory diseases.

Currently, the frequency of these diseases in children is increased.

The huge problem is the lack of these places - not only at us, but also at all clinics in Sofia", he emphasized.

And he added: "Usually the boom of these diseases is in the middle of January and the beginning of February.

But now we see that already in the first third of December we are entering this period.

The situation is extremely dynamic."

He specified that in addition to viral, there are also bacterial infections.

"Usually the illness runs between 5 to 7 days.

Treatment is antiviral for viral diseases.

In the case of bacterial infections, antibiotic treatment is prescribed."
