The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) appealed to the population regarding the expected severe weather conditions.

"According to the information of the National Hydrometeorology Service, from tonight until December 21, weather conditions in the country will change sharply, it will be rainy, snow will fall in mountainous and foothill regions, it will intensify in some places, the temperature will drop, and strong winds will blow in some areas.

In connection with the mentioned, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to the population and urges them to observe the relevant safety rules related to the expected weather conditions.

Thus, cold and rainy weather conditions lead to a significant increase in the use of gas and electric heating devices.

At this time, overloading of the electrical network, as well as the use of defective, non-standard or artificially made gas and electric heating devices, carelessness can result in a fire, as well as create a danger of carbon monoxide.

Therefore, faulty, non-standard or artificial heating devices should not be used, the electrical network should not be overloaded, heating devices should not be left unattended when they are working, especially they should not be entrusted to children, flammable materials and flammable liquids should not be stored in the immediate vicinity of heating devices, devices should be used in accordance with the instructions (recommendations) of the factory manufacturers.

In addition, people living in mountainous areas, as well as those visiting the mountains, should pay attention to the forecasts of official agencies regarding weather conditions, avoid leaving the residential area as much as possible in frosty and stormy weather, inform relatives in advance about the direction of movement in case of such a necessity, and if traveling by car ensure compliance of technical indicators with the season and sufficient fuel reserve, do not approach crowded places and do not choose such a movement route, follow the requirements of warning and prohibitory signs where they are, walk outside places where there is a possibility of avalanches, including steep slopes, stay before the dark time of day we recommend returning to the station.

Due to the strong wind expected in some areas, including Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary structures, buildings and billboards, and not to stand under electric poles and wires or tall trees.
