[Reporter Lin Minzhen/Taichung Report] Artist Chen Tingshi was born in Fujian in 1913. He broke through the limitations of childhood hearing loss. Based on Chinese poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal, he learned from Xu Beihong's experience in Western painting and sketching. The prints resisted violent criticism during the war, and moved to Taichung after 1980. In his later years, he was obsessed with collecting elegant stones and creating iron sculptures.

On the 20th anniversary of his death this year, the Taiping District Office of Taichung City held the opening and awarding ceremony of the joint exhibition of "Latte * Day and Night-The Artistic Spirit of Er Gong's Iron Sculpture in His Later Years" and "2022 Taiping Iron Works Art Festival Achievement Exhibition" at the Taiping Tobacco Shop. Praise Chen Tingshi's spirit of transcending physical limitations and endless creation.

According to the curatorial unit, "Latte" is the name of the popular Italian coffee with milk after 1980, and it also refers to the hand that uses iron to make things or create art, holding iron to think, operate and appreciate a series of behaviors Action close-up.

"Painting the night" is often used to describe the time changes between day and night, and also reveals the transfer of sunlight, which constantly affects the rhythm of yin and yang, living routines, and the cosmic avenue of cycle order of all creatures on the earth.

The exhibition focuses on "Iron Time" and focuses on the composite iron sculpture works of Chen Tingshi's late period. The exhibition period is from October 15, 111 to April 15, 112.

The "2022 Taiping Ironworks Art Festival Achievement Exhibition" exhibited the award-winning works of the 4th Taiping Ironworks Art Festival.

District Mayor Xu Guifang said that this year, in addition to the participation of the Cultural and Creative Department of Qinyi University of Science and Technology and the Advertising Design Department of Ciming High School, Guanghua Advanced Engineering, the Department of Digital Media Design of Xiuping University of Science and Technology, and the Cultural and Creative Department of Hongguang University of Science and Technology also participated in the grand event.

Combined with the ZTE community social construction project, the "Iron Art Workshop" was held at the factory "Congyuan Stainless Steel". The students picked up the waste hardware left over from the operation of the factory and worked with the craftsmen to create iron sculptures. Xu Guifang said that the office combines art with the real estate industry and local cultural centers, and carries forward Chen Tingshi's spirit of caring for all things and turning waste into works of art. The Taiping Iron Works Art Festival is held year by year, which has gradually become a characteristic event in Taiping District.

In addition to being exhibited at the Taiping Tobacco Shop, these iron sculptures will also be on tour in the Tun District Art and Culture Center, Huludun Cultural Center, and Port District Art and Culture Center in the future.
