[Reporter Chen Xianyi/Taitung Report] To create a happy park for the elderly with dementia and implement local aging, Taitung’s first dedicated dementia care institution "Lezhi Happy Home" was unveiled today; the Health Bureau stated that Taitung St. Small-scale multi-functional long-term care institutions, in addition to providing day care services and night care services for 30 people, are expected to provide dementia group homes for 18 elderly people in April 2023.

The county government promoted welfare measures for the elderly, strengthened the long-term care service system, and assisted in obtaining about 7.6 million yuan to invest in subsidizing the related equipment of "Lezhi Happy Home". Taitung County Mayor Rao Qingling was invited to participate in the unveiling.

Rao Qingling said that there are currently about 7,830 people using long-term care services in the county. The county government continues to strengthen long-term care and elderly welfare service measures, such as building a new social welfare building for the elderly, opening multiple care centers in Chishang Township and Chenggong Township, and Taimali Township and Yanping Township. The township multi-care center will also be opened next year.

In addition, residential long-term care institutions will be established in Changbin Township, Dawu Township, and Guanshan Township. The coverage rate of long-term care services is as high as 89.34%, ranking third in Taiwan.
