On a cold winter night in the emergency room, the guard outside rushed into the internal medicine consultation room and shouted: "Someone passed out at the door..." The medical staff quickly pushed the bed and rushed to the door, only to find a middle-aged man lying unconscious At the door of the emergency room, there was no heartbeat or breathing, and first aid was started immediately.

It was later discovered that this was a taxi driver in his 60s, who had a history of high blood pressure and diabetes.

When I was driving halfway that day, I felt a dull pain, and my chest was so tight that I couldn’t breathe. I felt something was wrong at the moment, so I drove to the nearest hospital door, got off the car at the door, and lost consciousness when I rushed to the door of the emergency room.

Later, after active rescue by medical staff in the emergency room, his heartbeat and breathing resumed.

The electrocardiogram showed severe myocardial infarction, so the emergency personnel immediately consulted with a cardiologist to perform an emergency cardiac catheterization to unblock the blood vessels, only to save his life.

The final diagnosis of the patient was sudden cardiac death caused by myocardial infarction!

Old age, three highs... High-risk groups

The so-called sudden death refers to unexpected death, and the causes of death are nothing more than diseases, trauma, drugs, poisons, drowning, suicide, homicide... .

If the death is caused by the heart, it is called "sudden cardiac death" or "sudden cardiac death".

Sudden cardiac death is the most common cause of sudden death, more than 70% is caused by cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction, followed by cardiac muscle diseases, such as cardiomyopathy, viral myocarditis...

In addition, fatal ventricular arrhythmia or valvular heart disease can also cause sudden death.

High-risk groups of sudden death, including: older age groups, groups with three high chronic diseases, irregular life schedule, day and night reversal, over-tired work at ordinary times, high pressure in life, especially patients who have been diagnosed with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and do not take regular doses Patients with chronic diseases controlled by drugs and cases of sudden death in their families are all high-risk groups for sudden death.

According to statistics, the lower the temperature, the higher the risk of sudden death, especially when the cold snap hits, and the temperature difference changes greatly. Sudden coldness will stimulate the sympathetic nerves to secrete stress hormones, which will cause blood vessels to constrict, heartbeat to speed up, and blood pressure to rise.

When blood pressure rises and blood pressure gets out of control, many cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents will follow, which may cause sudden death later.

Chest pain, palpitations... possible symptoms

There may be some symptoms before sudden death, such as chest pain, palpitations, dyspnea, extreme fatigue, and even arrhythmia, low blood pressure, persistent chest pain, dyspnea, dizziness and near syncope.

In the case of sudden death, the patient should first confirm his consciousness and vital signs, and then ask for help from others and make an emergency call as soon as possible. AED should be attached to the patient as soon as possible, and electric shock and cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be performed according to the implementation steps of the AED until the ambulance personnel arrive at the scene to take over the rescue.

◎Prevention of sudden cardiac death should pay attention to the following:

●Appropriate amount of water should be added, and attention should be paid to indoor ventilation.

●Regular life and rest, avoid overwork and stress.

●Patients with chronic diseases such as heart and cerebrovascular diseases should take medicine on time.

● Exercise moderately and avoid excessive exercise.

● Eat a light diet and avoid heavy drinking.

The weather is getting colder, especially when the cold snap hits, it is necessary to take measures to keep warm.

If you have heart discomfort, you should go to the doctor for an examination as soon as possible to find out the cause. The most important thing to stay away from sudden death is to prevent it before it happens.
