A conference on "Freedom of Conscience and Media" was held under the joint organization of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Press Council of Azerbaijan.
APA reports that the leadership of the State Committee, the Press Council, media representatives, as well as representatives of religious denominations and the public took part in the conference.
Chairman of the State Committee, Mubariz Gurbanli, opened the event with an introductory speech and touched upon the relevance of the conference's theme.
He spoke about the duties of the press in the direction of the fight against radicalism, the protection and promotion of national-spiritual, including religious values, multicultural and tolerant traditions.
The Chairman of the Press Council, Rashad Majid, touched on the importance of the media in strengthening the struggle in the ideological field and in propaganda against religious superstition.
He drew attention to the role of mass media in the protection of social and political stability in the country.
Gunduz Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Institutions, made a presentation on "Freedom of Conscience, Ideological Security and Media", then Gamar Javadli, Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, members of the Board of the Press Council, Milikh Yevdayev, Chairman of the Mountain Jews religious community of Baku, Elnur Efendiyev, representative of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, shared his views on the topic.
Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition of literature published by the Fund for Propagation of Moral Values under the Committee was also shown.
It should be noted that the purpose of the event is to connect the activities of the media with religious communities in the context of freedom of conscience and to discuss the duties of mass media in ensuring freedom of conscience.
The conference ended with discussions.
