Security personnel at Dane County Regional Airport were recently shocked to find an unusual item packed inside the luggage of a passenger who was checked in for a flight.

Before baggage was loaded onto a plane at the airport in Madison, Wisconsin, a security guard checked an airport X-ray machine for a dog inside a bag.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) shared two pictures of the backpack and the X-ray on Twitter.

TSA wrote in the caption, "A dog was mistakenly sent to an X-ray machine at @MSN_Airport this week. When traveling with any animal, notify your airline and know their rules. Bring your pet to the checkpoint." Remove the animal from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to the machine to be screened."

Apart from the tweet, he also shared the right way to travel with a pet.

TSA wrote in another tweet, "Note: This is a @TSA PreCheck passenger traveling with a cat. If you think your pet will attempt to escape, speak to a supervisor before removing the animal." Ask for it. Alternative screening options may be available."

This isn't the first time the Transportation Security Administration has found a live pet inside luggage.

A similar incident happened last month at a New York City airport, when officials spotted a live cat inside a passenger's suitcase.
