The High Court of Tanzania, Tabora Region, has sentenced Haruna Ndayanze to death by hanging after being found guilty of killing his wife's son on the grounds that he found his mother taking antiretroviral pills (ARVS).

Resident Magistrate of Tabora District, Demetrio Nyakunga gave the sentence after he was assigned the authority to hear the proceedings of the high court.

Nyakunga said the court was satisfied with the evidence given in court and therefore the accused Ndayanze has been convicted for killing Kusaga Magulu who is his wife's child with another man.

The prosecution, represented by lawyers, Merito Ukongoji and Sabrina Silayo claimed that the accused committed the offense on January 25, 2020 in Pozamoyo Village in Kaliua district.

It was alleged that on that day the accused killed the child by cutting him with a sword on the neck, hands and other parts of the body.

The prosecution sent 12 witnesses and claimed in court that the reason for the murder was the accused finding his wife, Stephania Alphoncy, taking ARVs.

Judge Nyakunga also sentenced Ally Shaban Kinyogoli and Ally Mtoni Kambongo to be hanged to death after finding them guilty of killing Ally Rajabu, a resident of Igalula Village in Uyui district.
