European health ministers will discuss measures the Commission should take on behalf of Member States in relation to existing agreements for the purchase of Covid vaccines.

Bulgaria continues to insist on a renegotiation of the terms of the contract between the EC and Pfizer, with the possible solutions being its termination or an urgent change to a significant reduction of the quantities provided for in it, and providing the opportunity for the countries to order the quantities they actually need.

The position was expressed by the health minister during a meeting with European health commissioner Stella Kyriakidou.

EU countries should start preparing for new Covid waves in autumn and winter

According to Dr. Medzhidiev, if this does not happen, the upcoming deliveries will be subject to scrapping from the moment of receipt.

The Minister of Health indicated that the European Commission should consider the possibility of repurchasing the vaccines.
