Samir Mahmudov, executive director of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, who opened the event with an introductory speech, said that the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were reflected in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Executive Director of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives noted that 20 years ago, when law enforcement officials were asked questions about human rights and freedoms, they would have difficulty finding answers, but today the situation is completely different: "In Azerbaijan, the creation of an effective mechanism for the protection of human rights and freedoms has been achieved. .

In this aspect, I would like to specially mention that in recent times, the legal institute in our country is experiencing its own period of development.

Samir Mahmudov noted that the creation of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev is a clear example of his attention to legal reforms, the development of our legislation, including the protection of human rights.

Habib Abdullayev, Head of the Human Rights Protection Sector of the Presidential Administration, said that the State Program for the Protection of Human Rights, approved by the decree of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader in the field of human rights, dated June 18, 1998, is a document of special importance, which includes legislative and institutional reforms.

According to him, June 18 is celebrated as Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan.

Habib Abdullayev emphasized that this document accelerates the process of formation of democratic institutions in our country, and important steps forward in the field of human rights have been taken by creating a new three-level judicial system, constitutional supervision, and a new institution such as an ombudsman.

"After Azerbaijan's Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, a new era has begun in the field of human rights protection.

Claims have been submitted to the UN Human Rights Court, the European Court and other international courts, and the enforcement process is underway.

The main issue facing the state of Azerbaijan at the moment is to ensure the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands.

"Azerbaijan will act as one of the authors of the main initiatives in the field of human rights at the international level."

Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mohammad Guluzade, emphasized that Azerbaijan has joined all international documents and conventions in the field of protection of rights and freedoms, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and international legal norms have been implemented into national legislation.

Mohammad Guluzadeh also announced that the Institute will organize a free online course on human rights in the near future.

Deputy Bahruz Maharramov spoke about the work done in the field of human rights protection in Azerbaijan and the adopted legislative acts.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Bar Association Anar Bagirov said that the head of state pays special attention to the development of the legal institute in the country: "It is a serious problem that millions of Azerbaijanis cannot study in their own language.

As lawyers, we should also try to solve this problem at the international level."

It should be noted that the Institute of Law and Human Rights has announced a competition dedicated to December 10 - International Human Rights Day among students of various universities and journalism majors.

3 students of Baku State University who showed the highest results in the competition - Eynaddin Habibov, Arzu Shukurova and Shahid Maharramli won in the nomination of law, 4 students of the Faculty of Journalism of BSU - Nurana Guliyeva, Isa Taralov, Shams Huseynli and Elshan Soltanzade won in the nomination of journalism. were announced.
