The award was presented online to Elena Zelenska by Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State in 2009-2013.

The first lady said that she sees this award as another sign of support for Ukraine from the United States.

"It is an extraordinary honor for me to receive The Hillary Rodham Clinton Awards from the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.

During the online ceremony, she frankly said: I don't have the feeling that this is just my award.

Our entire country is currently fighting for freedom and at the same time for peaceful life in the world.

Because while the aggressor is launching missiles at Ukrainian cities, peace, unfortunately, does not exist anywhere.

If you even imagine that Russia can supposedly win - and we will never allow this - peace will cease to exist in principle.

Imagine that every dictator decides that he can commit genocide against peaceful people.

Imagine terrorists dictating the rules to the free world.

Imagine that maniacs will understand the impunity of their crimes.

This is how Russia now sees the future world order.

And what we are fighting against.

Therefore, with incredible gratitude, I want to share this award with every Ukrainian woman and man who defends not only ours, but also the right of the whole world to peace.

I thanked Mrs. Hillary Clinton and the entire United States for this award - for us, it is yet another proof of unceasing support for Ukraine," Ms. Zelenska wrote on her Instagram.
