The construction of the new building of Darbend Theater is ongoing and will be handed over in May next year.

Director of Darbend State Azerbaijan Drama Theater, Honored cultural worker of Dagestan Firdovsi Askerov informed APA about this.

According to Firdovsi Askerov, the building was demolished because there were defects in the previous building: "There were construction errors in that building.

For example, the revolving stage went along the bottom of the wall, so it was impossible for the actor-actress to go beyond the revolving stage.

As a result, that building was inspected by the commission and demolished.

The construction of the new building started last year and it is expected to be handed over in May next year."

The director also emphasized the issue of the lack of actors in the theater: "Yes, unfortunately, we also have the issue of a lack of actors."

He emphasized that they are temporarily operating in the building of the Lezgi State Drama Theater.

In response to APA's inquiry, the Ministry of Culture said that based on the request of the director of the Darbend State Azerbaijan Drama Theater, Firdovsi Asgarov, the Ministry of Culture announced the involvement of young directors and actors in the theater: "The conditions included the provision of accommodation by the theater." .

Several applications came in, but some had language problems and some were not satisfied with the salary.

At present, the theater management has kept the issue of personnel in the background until the handover of the building.

Nevertheless, Sarvar Aliyev, the Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is also the chief director of the Darbend State Azerbaijan Drama Theater, and we make it possible for him to visit the city of Darbend several times a year."

The ministry also noted that the building currently under construction is being built at the expense of the Darbend city administration: "The theater has been suspended for repairs since November 2021.

The old building was completely demolished (only the facade of the "Rodina" cinema was preserved, it is considered a historical monument) and a new building that meets modern standards is being built for the theater."

The Ministry also noted that the theater's construction work is expected to be completed in mid-2023.
