[Reporter Huang Meizhu/Hsinchu Report] Shi Hui, a student from the Higher Vocational Department of the National Hsinchu Special Education School, won the first prize in the High School Vocational Group A (Music Team) in the Hsinchu County Student Music Competition this year!

It will represent Hsinchu County to enter the national music competition, becoming the first case in recent years that the school's special education students have challenged the national music competition.

Although Shi Hui was diagnosed with moderate autism when he was young, he had obstacles in oral expression and comprehension, but after his mother Hong Peishan patiently guided him to learn music, the kindergarten class first entered Zhu Zongqing's percussion teaching and learned systematically. It took him 3 months to memorize the position of the notes, but he continued to work hard, and finally broke through the barriers of understanding, and established a deep foundation in basic musical abilities such as sight scores and rhythm.

Shi Hui continued to participate in the Zhu Zongqing Jieyou Youth Percussion Orchestra after graduating from the upper grades of elementary school, and then continued to study with the xylophone teacher Dai Hanzhi.

Junior high school participated in the Hsinchu County Student Music Competition and won the top grade in Group B. This year, I challenged the high school vocational group A. I started preparing the competition repertoire more than half a year ago, practiced hard every day, and finally got the top grade again.

In addition, Shi Hui Junior High School also learned flute under the tutelage of Zheng Anqiao, a flutist living in France. Even though it has been less than two years, he won the first prize in the flute competition for the first time this year, which is very rare.

The County Education Bureau stated that Shi Hui is also good at playing the harp. His performance in music has broken through the limitations of his own autism, and because of his excellent performance ability, he has won many awards in domestic and foreign music competitions, and thus won the 2022 President Affirmation of the Hard Work Award of the Education Award.
